MOROCCO Mohammed V (1927–1961). 10-franc nickel silver trial coin, by Turin and Lindauer, Special Strike (SP) AH 1346 (1927), Paris. Obverse: REPUBLIQUE - FRANÇAISE. Laureate head of the Republic facing right, with the signature ‘P. TURIN’ below. Rev. MAROC. Star formed of two squares within floral motifs, with 10 / FRANCS / ESSAI and (various) in the centre. Lec. – (see 248, nickel) – KM. – (see E14, nickel); Nickel silver – 27.5 mm – 6 h PCGS SP63 (48798263). Lecompte lists this type as nickel, and therefore metallic, but some examples are non-metallic, struck on nickel silver blanks (copper-nickel with a little zinc). The surfaces are slightly soiled. Superb.
