MOROCCO Mohammed V (1927–1961). 10-franc trial coin, hybrid of 1st type and 2nd type, Special Strike (SP) ND (1347 AH = 1928), Paris. Obverse: MAROC. Legend and star formed by two squares, with 10 FRANCS in the centre and ESSAI and (variations). Reverse: Legend and star formed by two squares, with denomination in Arabic numerals in the centre and ESSAI. Lec.- (see 253); Silver – 9.99 g – 28 mm – 6 h Top Pop: this is the only graded specimen! PCGS SP65 (56278520). Special Strike (SP). Ribbed edge and ‘ESSAI’ on both the obverse and reverse. Missing from Jean Lecompte’s catalogue: this is the trial strike of the hybrid type (Lec. 253), itself extremely rare. In its mint state with a delicate patina.
