Obverse: NAPOLEON III – EMPEROR. Bare head facing left; below, signature A. BOVY.
Reverse: BATTLE OF THE ALMA / 20 SEPTEMBER 1854. Winged Victory holding a palm frond and a standard surmounted by an eagle, advancing to the right over the reclining allegory of the River Alma with her urn, surmounted by the imperial eagle in flight. Behind Victory, Fame, crowned with a laurel wreath and holding a trumpet, is engraving the event on a shield. Signature in the exergue: A. BOVY.
