A Napoleon III necklace in 18-carat (750) yellow and rose gold, comprising a long chain featuring an octagonal, chiselled barrel clasp engraved with flowers and monogrammed with a ‘C’, holding a pendant depicting a stylised, engraved shell, supporting a semicircle adorned with a fringe of small chains. No hallmarks. Dated to the mid-19th century. Subsequently converted into a pendant.
