Carved Christ figure in elephant ivory (Elephas maximus, Loxodonta africana or Loxodonta cyclotis). France, 18th century. It is set against a crimson velvet background within a wooden and gilded stucco frame (attached). (Numerous cracks and damage to the fingers). Total height: 31 cm. Height of Christ: 16.5 cm. Gross weight: 750 g. Object composed wholly or partly of ivory from the elephantidae SPP (Elephas maximus, Loxodonta africana or Loxodonta cyclotis), classified under Appendix I/A of CITES/EU. In accordance with the regulatory provisions in force within the European Union (Regulation (EU) No 2021/2280 of 16 December 2021), the object will be delivered to the purchaser together with its Intra-Community Certificate FR26078000618-K issued by the DREAL on 10 April 2026, accompanied by the expert report drawn up by Mr Pierre Grignon Dumoulin, a court-appointed expert in works of art composed of materials derived from biodiversity and an approved agent. Re-export outside the EU is prohibited, except in the case of state cultural institutions upon presentation of supporting documentation.
