REGENCE-STYLE SLOPING-TOP DESK, entirely in violet wood veneer with diamond-shaped marquetry and fillet mouldings around the edges. It opens via a single, cut-out-shaped flap. The interior features recesses, drawers and a sliding secret compartment. The lower section has two drawers. Curved legs. The piece is in its original condition (wear to the varnish and gaps in the veneer). Late 18th century. L 95, D 52, H 96.
