RARE NEO-CLASSICAL CLOCK in white Carrara marble, chiselled, gilded and patinated bronze depicting Cupid sharpening his arrow on a grindstone, with water flowing from a spouted fountain surmounted by a covered vase with a lion’s-head spout, and operated² by a pedal connected to a cogwheel. Ornamentation features chiselled and gilded bronze motifs of a lion’s mask, a pinecone fretwork, coiled laurel leaves and rows of pearls. It is driven by a pendulum in the shape of a radiant sun and two beautiful gilded brass hands. It rests on four turned feet in the shape of spinning tops.
