Lot no. 505
Description
Émile Gallé
Small poly-lobed vase with a hemmed shape, in imitation of quartz and its dirt. On one side a dragonfly and on the other a cicada. The hot-glazed decoration is in absolute harmony with the dirt, oxides and bubbles trapped in the glass.
H.: 9.2 cm (small external crack on the middle of the vase and on the rim at the top, a small chip, not through)
Our hitherto unknown piece is certainly the culmination of a series of several pieces, each unique, and the result of Émile Gallé's research into imitations of hard stones and museum pieces from ancient Egypt.
