Description
Desk portico clock in silver and vermeil, 88 zolotniki (916‰). Probably Soviet work, circa 1950. Of rectangular polylobed shape, mounted on a translucent blue enamel plaque over a guilloché ground, decorated with a crown set with red cabochon stones and ribbons set with synthetic white stones. The lower section is centered with a double-headed eagle set with imitation white stones, flanked by two sphinxes. The bezel is set with imitation half-pearls. White dial, Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the seconds, pear-shaped hands, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock. Key-wound mechanical movement, apparently jammed, with a key present. Supported by two columns resting on an onyx base. The reverse stamped with fanciful hallmarks. Approx. H. 6 x W. 12 x D. 13 cm. Missing stones and some stones dulled.
