Book containing 208 cartes de visite. 19th century. The collection comprises kings, queens, princes, counts, dukes, musicians and other prominent figures from around the world, including Isabella II, Giuseppe Garibaldi, Alexandre Dumas and Charles Ferdinand. All the cartes de visite were produced by the finest photographers of the period, including Juan Laurent, Pedro Martínez Hebert, Antonio Claudet, Eugeni and André Disdéri, Alexandre Ken, among others. A handwritten list original from the period is attached, identifying each person in the photograph. Album measurements: 32,3 x 25 cm. Carte de visite measurements: 8,5 x 5 cm each. Provenance: - Collection of a hôtel particulier in Paris, belonging to a family of the French high aristocracy. A collection assembled between 1883 and 1976. - By descent to the present owner.
