Viceregal School. Quito workshop. Late 18th century. 'Saint' Carved, polychrome, and gilded wooden sculpture. 32 x 17 x 10 cm. A magnificent example of Quito-style religious art, characterized by its vibrant colors and exquisite craftsmanship, as seen in the figure’s delicate features. The beautiful polychrome and gilded brushwork, as well as the skin tones, are particularly noteworthy. The eyes are made of glass. This lot has been imported, therefore its exportation permit from the Spanish Ministry of Culture is guaranteed and is exempt from spanish culture export duties.
