Description
Pair of Chinese porcelain vases, mounted in gilt bronze. Famille Rose. Qing Dynasty. Qianlong–Jiaqing period. Height: 36 cm each. Louis XV-style bronze mounts. Possibly an English mounting by Edward Holmes Baldock, a prominent London dealer to the Royal Family. One of the vases bears an original old label from C. Jouhassin, numbered 27187. '...ROU C. JOUHASSIN. Av. Pierre de Serbie. Paris.' The same vase presents a small restoration to the rim, in the area where it joins the bronze mount, possibly as a result of the mounting itself. Provenance: - C. Jouhassin. Avenue Pierre de Serbie, Paris. - Collection of a hôtel particulier in Paris, belonging to a family of the French high aristocracy. A collection assembled between 1883 and 1976. - By descent to the present owner.
