Acting as intermediaries between collectors, porcelain makers and bronze casters, they played a key role in the creation of these exceptional objects combining porcelain with gilded bronze mountings. Regarded as a precious material for its delicacy, whiteness and lustre, Chinese porcelain fascinated European connoisseurs. The Sèvres porcelain soon added to this craze.
