Acting as intermediaries between collectors, porcelain makers and bronze casters, they contributed in particular to the creation of these exceptional objects combining porcelain with gilded bronze mounts. Regarded as a precious material for its delicacy, whiteness and lustre, Chinese porcelain fascinated European connoisseurs. The Sèvres porcelain productions soon added to this craze.
