A Napoleon III-era mantelpiece ornament, in gilded and chiselled bronze, featuring a clock flanked by two cherubs, with an enamelled dial signed ‘Ernest Royer, Paris’, surrounded by a beaded frieze; candelabra decorated with a putto holding a cornucopia, ending in five light arms; bases adorned with fluting, laurel wreaths, flowers and acanthus leaves; dimensions of the clock: 44x41x19 cm; height of the candelabra: 65 cm Provenance: Schlote family, Göttingen, Lower Saxony, collection of Dr Karl Schlote, Eschwege, North Hesse, assembled mainly between 1950 and 1990, then passed down through the family, private collection, Switzerland, since 2010. pitting and wear to the gilding no winding key
