Description
BETJEMANN'S A superb and substantial toiletries and travel case, made of Coromandel wood? or calamander wood veneer? Monogrammed ‘YA’. The interior is lined with velvet and blue moiré, decorated with a beautiful scalloped metal trim. A cantilevered opening mechanism operates the four side trays, each fitted with two drawers featuring a spring-loaded opening system. It opens via a flap featuring three bone handles (as found, some missing), with an interior mirror, a silver frame with stylised motifs, and two clothes brushes Along with fifteen vials, cotton or make-up boxes, tubes and cases, in diamond-point-cut crystal, with silver settings. Each setting is monogrammed ‘YA’ A box lid and a vial lid are included Weight: 1055g 19th-century England (case partially sun-faded, locking mechanism in need of repair, missing parts, incomplete, cracks, key missing) H: approx. 26cm W: 37cm D: 28cm
