Description
TIFFOCHE Gustave (1930–2011) – A set of pieces in pyrite stoneware comprising three handled caquelons, five goblets, two small bowls and a mazagran. Most pieces are stamped ‘GT’ on the base. 1970s. (Two goblets with chips). Note: Gustave Tiffoche trained in ceramics at the Château de Ratilly alongside the Pierlot couple. He also spent time in La Borne, where some of his pieces bear references to the town. He subsequently set up his studio in Guérande. In addition to his artistic practice, he worked as a teacher. Specialising in stoneware, he also produced a few porcelain pieces with celadon glazes in the late 1980s. He undertook public commissions, notably fountains, such as those in Le Croisic and the Parc de la Beaujoire in Nantes. From the 1990s to the 2000s, he devoted himself increasingly to painting. An exhibition dedicated to this artist from Guérande was held at the Porte Saint-Michel, Guérande Museum, from 25 November 2023 to 22 September 2024.
