Description
TIFFOCHE Gustave (1930–2011) – Set comprising a platter and three bowls with handles, made of pyrite stoneware. Signed with a ‘GT’ stamp on the base. 1970s. Diameter of the platter: 25.5 cm. Note: Gustave Tiffoche trained in ceramics at Ratilly Castle alongside the Pierlot couple. He also spent time in La Borne, where some of his pieces refer to the town. He subsequently set up his studio in Guérande. In addition to his artistic practice, he worked as a teacher. Specialising in stoneware, he also produced a number of porcelain pieces with celadon glazes in the late 1980s. He undertook public commissions, notably fountains, such as those in Le Croisic and the Parc de la Beaujoire in Nantes. From the 1990s to the 2000s, he devoted himself increasingly to painting. An exhibition dedicated to this artist from Guérande was held at the Porte Saint-Michel, Guérande Museum, from 25 November 2023 to 22 September 2024.
