In this series, originally published in 1770, Augustin de Saint-Aubin depicts various games played by young children in Paris at the end of the 18th century: ‘le sabot’, ‘le coupe-tête’, ‘la fossette’ or ‘le jeu de noyaux’, the spinning top and skipping. The final plate depicts children leaving school, where they can be seen jumping, running and dancing.
