French painter of landscapes and rural scenes. He exhibited at the Salon from 1873 onwards whilst simultaneously pursuing an administrative career at the École Polytechnique. Having settled in the Loire Valley towards the end of his life, he devoted himself to depicting the old villages, farmhouses and landscapes of the Loir-et-Cher, Berry and Sologne regions. One of his works, *Le Loir à Montoire*, is held at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Blois.
The lot is to be collected from the auctioneer’s office at 8 Rue Rossini, Paris 9th arrondissement, from 17 July 2026 at 3.00 pm.
