Armand Manago was the son of the painter Vincent Manago. He enrolled at the École des Beaux-Arts in Douai at the age of 14, then at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he studied under Jean-Pierre Laurens until 1939. During the war, he was rounded up in a raid in 1944 and sent to Buchenwald concentration camp and to his ‘kommando’ at the Stassfurt salt mines. There, every day, he would recreate a view of Paris in his imagination.
The lot is to be collected from the studio at 8 rue Rossini, Paris 9th arrondissement, from 17 July 2026 at 3.00 pm.
