Born in Roanne, André Cabane began painting under the guidance of his father, André-Jean Cabane. He was also inspired by the paintings of his grandfather, Édouard Cabane. He became a pupil of Marcel Baschet and Fernand Sabatté, before joining the Société des artistes français. He exhibited the painting *Bord de la Seine à Saint-Cloud* at the 1929 Salon des artistes français.
He was held as a prisoner of war in Germany from 1940 to 1945 and was awarded the Croix du combattant upon his release.
Inspired by the neo-abstract movement, and later the kaleidoscopic style, he mainly produced landscapes and seascapes in oil and gouache.
Lot to be collected from the studio at 8 Rue Rossini, Paris 9th arrondissement, from 17 July 2026 at 3.00 pm.
