LOUIS-ANDRÉ CABANE (1915–1988). A set of two works: - Le Pierrot Panel Signed lower right: L.A. Cabane Titled, signed, dated and numbered on the reverse: 1954/2P/No. 637c Height 24 cm – Width 16 cm Picking Persimmons - Panel Signed and dated lower left: 1954 Signed, dated, titled and numbered on the reverse: 15p/No. 602 Height 50 cm – Width 65 cm Born in Roanne, André Cabane began painting under the guidance of his father, André-Jean Cabane. He was also inspired by the paintings of his grandfather, Édouard Cabane. He became a pupil of Marcel Baschet and Fernand Sabatté, before joining the Société des artistes français. He exhibited the painting *Bord de la Seine à Saint-Cloud* at the 1929 Salon des artistes français. He was held as a prisoner of war in Germany from 1940 to 1945 and was awarded the Croix du combattant upon his release. Inspired by the neo-abstract movement, and later the kaleidoscopic style, he mainly produced landscapes and seascapes in oil and gouache. Lot to be collected from the studio at 8 Rue Rossini, Paris 9th arrondissement, from 17 July 2026 at 3.00 pm.
