Following a trip to Egypt in 1975, Elisabeth Oulès returned fascinated by the connection between site, architecture, sculpture and the representation of the human form. The relationship of scale between the tiny figures and the colossal statues, and this exploration of form and space, was further confirmed during subsequent journeys. “All my artistic exploration is linked to verticality and to the way in which space is perceived and occupied.” “For me, poetry and colour are closely linked and reflect a balance (like the balance of a tree) where form harmonises with the space in which it is set.”
