Lock on the model 1842, signed of the Royal Manufacture, and punch D surmounted of a star. Barrel with sides with the tonerre then round, mouth reinforced with a bead. On the top of the barrel, a fixed sight completed with a mobile rise graduated 150 and 300. Front sight at the mouthpiece. The upper right side is dated 1846, the right side is stamped "MR" and partially hidden by the wood, stamp D crowned, the upper left side is stamped with the letters D and L, both between 2 stars. It is stamped with the number 10, as is the wood. Very few guns of this type were made and have survived, and the serial numbers known to us are less than number 50. Wooden frame with checkered grip, brass fittings with grenadière ring on cap. Iron trigger guard with fingering. The inside of the barrel, designed for a 17.6mm Tamisier bullet, is rifled, although the rifling is not very deep. Initially with internal rod, these pistols were transformed in 1857 for tests with the bullet Minié, by boring of the stripes and suppression of the rod. Good condition II+
