Description
HAUTE-SAVOIE (74) - "Fond de la Combe et Mont Ruant" (CHAMBERY). 19th century. Original Sketch by Félix Benoist (1818-1896) in graphite and enhanced with white gouache, on wove paper. PREPARATORY DRAWING for the lithograph entitled "Fond de la Combe et Mont Ruant", for the album "NICE ET SAVOIE" published in 1864 by Charpentier. Provenance: Fonds of the Charpentier workshop run by Pierre-Henri (1788-1854) and his son Henri-Désiré (1806-1883), printers and publishers based in Paris, then in Nantes (from 1854). DEssin representing the locality of Fer à Cheval, in the commune of Sixt in Haute-Savoie. It is a natural cirque particularly remarkable for its geological forms and for the multitude of waterfalls that flow into it. 21 x 31.7 cm. Condition A (rare small handling creases on the edges, good condition).
