Bronze Buddha hand, Thailand, 19th-20th c., adopting the abhaya mudra, on base (not integral), h. 16.5 cm (hand) (crack). The manual posture of abhaya mudra, a sign of peace and protection, is often used in representations of the Buddha. This fine bronze hand, from the collection of Ambassador Paul André Ramseyer, adopts it with natural simplicity.
