Kilonda Songyé/Nsapo ceremonial or ceremonial axe, wrought iron blade and copper-clad wooden handle, openwork blade decorated with stylised faces, DRC, h. 48 cm Certificate from Galerie Walu, Zürich, dated 28 October 1997 (no. 1416) Lucien Dällenbach Collection (1940-2025) Good condition Nice shiny patina on the handle Provenance according to the indications of the former owner (reported for information only, without any supporting document to attest it): Galerie Walu, Zürich, 1980s (purchased before the certificate was issued) Lucien Dällenbach (1940-2025) Lucien Dällenbach (1940-2025) was a professor at the University of Geneva and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich. A renowned essayist and literary critic, he devoted his life to the study of aesthetics in all its forms. A passionate collector, he is particularly interested in African and Oceanic art. Over the years, he has amassed an important collection of masks, statuettes and throwing weapons, reflecting his curious eye and his taste for beauty in all its forms. The collection of masks and statuettes was built up between 1970 and 1990, and the collection of throwing weapons between 1990 and 2000, and was acquired from renowned galleries in Geneva, Zurich, Paris and Brussels. It has remained in the family to this day.
