MOLINET (Jean). Les Faictz et dictz de feu de bonne memoire... Paris, Jehan Longis,1531. In-folio bound in full red morocco, spine ribbed and gilt, triple gilt fillet framing the covers decorated with rich gilt fleurons at the corners, double gilt fillet at the edges, wide gilt lace on the inside, gilt edges. Later binding by Trautz-Bauzonnet. [4] ff, [133] ff, [1] blank ff. Decorated with a title finial and wood-engraved lettering. A very rare collective first edition (Tchémerzine) of Molinet's poems, bringing together royal songs, orations and moral treatises, which testifies to the lasting reception of his work in the early Renaissance. Jean Molinet (1435-1507), official chronicler to the Dukes of Burgundy and a major figure among the Grands Rhétoriqueurs, produced a poetic work characterised by formal virtuosity and an abundance of language. A very fine, washed copy.
