LE NOUVEAU TESTAMENT de Nostre Seigneur Jésus Christ, Latin, &, Françoys: les deux translations traduictes du Grec... Lyon, Guillaume Rouillé, 1557. In-16 bound in full tan calf, smooth spine decorated with gilt and azure scrolls, boards decorated with a rich gilt decoration of symmetrical scrolls mosaicked in green leather and framed with gilt fillets and roulette, on a stippled background, with highlights of white tint (Period binding). Adorned with a large engraved architectural frame to the title and engraved bands and initials. Handwritten annotations.
A fine copy in a fine Lyonnais binding from the 2nd half of the 16th century, protected by a modern slipcase (signed by Ateliers Laurenchet), described in the catalogue of works by Firmin-Didot on p.115 (no. 68) and indicating that the handwritten annotations on the flyleaf at the end of the volume are the autographs of Mélanchthon.

Binding:
Restoration to the jaws. The lower spine is cracked despite the restoration, as well as the upper part of the upper spine.
The upper corner of the first cover has been straightened after a visible dent.
The creases of the spine are marked by the use of the book which has been opened.
