In-8° bound in full brown calf, smooth spine gilt grotesquely decorated, gilt fillet to the edges. LXX, [1] f., 262 pp., [1] f. Decorated with a frontispiece by Eisen engraved by Sornique and two vignettes, one for the title and one for the dedication, engraved by Fokke. First edition, dedicated to the Republic of Geneva, of this famous philosophical essay by Jean-Jacques Rousseau. This copy includes the errata page, the author's name spelled Jean Jaques on the title page and in the dedication signature, the handwritten correction by Marc Michel Rey on page 11 and the inserts on pages lxvii-lxviii, 111-112 and 139-140. Fairly good condition, spine restored and paper a little oxidised.
