Paris, Pierre Didot l'aîné, an V, 1797. 2 volumes in 4 vol. in-12 bound in full red morocco, spines gilt and decorated, double gilt roulette on covers, gilt roulettes on spines and inside, gilt edges (period binding). Vol.1: XXXVI, 148 pp, Vol.2: (149-303) pp, Vol.3: 148 pp, Vol.4: (149-358) pp. decorated with a frontispiece and 9 plates engraved after Le Febvre by Masquelier. Edition of the French version given by P.-F. Guyot Desfontaines of the novel published by Jonathan Swift in 1721. Good condition despite sunned spine and some foxing to the plates. Good condition Error in the numbering of the volumes by the binder: vol. 3 corresponds to the second part of volume 2 and vol. 4 is the first part of volume 2. Binding: Spines sunned and leather a little cracked Rubbing to the spines and corners Many old small defects on the covers Inside pages: Ff. a little yellowed with rare and minimal spotting and endpapers foxing several freckles on engraved plates Some ff. edges a little browned
