BALZAC (Honoré de). Complete Works. *La Comédie humaine*. Paris, Alexandre Houssiaux, 1855[–1858 (Volume V)]. 20 vols., in-8°. Frontispiece portrait of Balzac and 135 illustrations on separate sheets. Green half-shagreen, spine with four decorated false ribs, title and volume numbers gilt. (Contemporary binding). This edition is a verbatim reprint of the Furne edition, but expanded to include a note by George Sand, Balzac’s portrait and three volumes comprising volumes XVIII, XIX and XX. Only volume V is dated 1858. Vicaire, 246. Inevitable foxing; one loose double-page spread in volume I; very slight wear to the binding. A good copy.
