VOLTAIRE. Complete Works. Paris: J. Esneaux [and Rosa], 1821[–1824]. 65 vols., in-8°. 4 folding plates. Light-coloured half-calf, with a long Romantic-style spine, title and volume labels in havana morocco, marbled edges. (Contemporary binding). The edition was announced as comprising 60 volumes, but actually consists of 63, or rather 65, as the volumes XLV, XLV bis and XLV ter may be counted as three volumes. The tragedy *Semiramis* is not bound at the end of volume LI. The vast majority of the volumes date from before 1824. Stamp ‘M. FAVEYRIAL’. Bengesco, 2152. Some foxing, spines faded, a few minor defects to the bindings.
