Head of Hypnos, the Greek god of sleep Bronze cast with a green patina modelled on the ancient original, bearing traces of a signature, on a cubic black marble plinth (chipped). 19th century Total height: 22 cm Note: This piece is inspired by an important Roman statue, a copy of a Greek statue by Scopas, found near Perugia. A few bronze casts of this model are known to exist. The sculptor Fernand KHNOPFF (Grembergen, 1858 – Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, 1921) produced a version that closely resembles the ancient original.
