César (1921–1998) Crushed Coffee Pot 1989 Silkscreen print of a coffee pot on transparent Plexiglas, signed in the bottom right-hand corner and numbered ‘VI/XXX’ in the bottom left-hand corner Publisher: Atelier Soardi, Nice 30 x 30 cm Provenance: > Private collection, Paris This work is registered in the César archives of Mrs Denyse Durand-Ruel under number 3344 Condition report: Framed This work was produced for the first edition of the catalogue ‘Bologna, Hommage à Morandi / Omaggio a Morandi. Edited by Danielle Londei. Critical essay by Renato Barilli ’ (Ravenna: Edizioni Essegi, 1989), printed in an edition of 700 copies and published to mark the eponymous exhibition held at the Alliance Française in Bologna in October and November 1989. For the 200 copies intended for the general public, the silkscreen print was printed on a black Plexiglas plate, whilst for the artist’s proofs and non-commercial copies, it was printed on a transparent plate, as shown here.
