ORDER OF THE LEGION OF HONOUR (1802) – FIRST EMPIRE – SILVER EAGLE OF THE THIRD TYPE (1808–1815) centres modified during the Restoration, in chiselled silver and enamel, with a lictor’s fasces hallmark on the ring, 37.5 x 57 mm, two-part gold-enamelled centres; the obverse centre features a profile effigy of Henry IV (head turned to the right) on a radiating background marked ‘HENRY IV KING OF FRANCE AND NAV. ’, the reverse featuring three fleurs-de-lis on a lined background and the inscription ‘HONOUR AND COUNTRY’, ornate foliage, a movable crown with 8 fleurons surmounted by a small cross, smooth ring, minute chips to the white enamel on some branches and to the green enamel of the foliage, a long, old, sun-faded ribbon with a white border down the centre, BE/TBE.
