ORDER OF THE LEGION OF HONOUR (1802) – PRESIDENCY (1851–1852) - KNIGHT’S STAR, in chiselled silver and enamel, hallmarked with a boar’s head, hallmarked with a boar’s head, 73 x 44 mm, centres enamelled in gold; the obverse centre features the profile of Emperor Napoleon I, a laureate head on a lined background with the inscription ‘NAPOLEON EMPEREUR DES FRANÇAIS’, on the reverse an imperial eagle on a thunderbolt, its head turned to the right, on a lined background with the inscription ‘HONNEUR ET PATRIE’, ornate foliage, a movable crown with eight fleurons surmounted by a small cross, a smooth ring; significant chips to the white enamel on the branches and tips; an old, sun-faded ribbon, though of a later date; ABE/BE.
