ORDER OF THE LEGION OF HONOUR (1802) – THIRD REPUBLIC (1870–1940) – GRAND OFFICER or GRAND CROSS PLAQUE, in chiselled silver, hallmarked with a boar’s head, weight: 115.7 grams, 90 mm in diameter, arms cut into diamond points, three-part centre featuring the effigy of the Republic and the inscription ‘REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE – 1870 - HONOUR AND COUNTRY’ (off-centre), on the reverse secured by a spring pin and two side hooks, very fine/superb condition.
