AUSTRIAN SCHOOL (19TH–20TH CENTURIES) AFTER FRANZ XAVIER BERGMANN (1861–1936) THE ARMS DEALER THE ARMS DEALER A polychrome bronze cast depicting an Oriental man seated on a carpet, dressed in traditional attire, holding the barrel of his rifle. He is in his shop, the wall of which is decorated with a carpet, from which hang a shield and weapons. A hookah stand rests on a hexagonal pedestal table. Marked ‘B in a jug’ in intaglio twice on the base and inscribed ‘Bergmann’. (Restored with tin). A LARGE AUSTRIAN COLD-PAINTED BRONZE FIGURE DEPICTING A MAN SELLING GUNS AND WEAPONS IN HIS SHOP (The bronze was originally used as a lamp). H. 34.5 CM (13 9/16 IN.) - DIM (Base) 12 X 15.5 CM (4 3/4 X 6 1/8 IN.)
