His training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and the School of Decorative Arts in Paris provided Sarkis Katchadourian with a wide range of artistic expression. Internationally renowned, he is particularly famous for his reconstructions of Persian and Indian frescoes, a series of which was acquired by the Guimet Museum before being deposited in 1971 at the National Gallery of Armenia. His work has been the subject of numerous exhibitions, both in the Middle East and Europe, as well as in the United States. Settled in Paris with his wife Vava, also a painter, he died suddenly in 1947 following a botched operation.
