19TH-CENTURY LONG CASHMERE SHAWL
in espoliné weave. A composition of finely espoliné-woven panels depicting ‘boteh’ palmettes and scrolls flanking a black ground laden with sinuous palmettes and a thousand flowers, and a main field edged with a fine braid on a white background, a gallery of palmettes running along all four sides.
Harlequin-patterned border in embroidered wool.
(Good condition).
