OTTOMAN-STYLE SPOON HOLDER AND COVERED FRUIT BOWL in silver, bell-shaped with scalloped edges and a base on a hexagonal pedestal with columns; the sides are finely chased with floral garlands; the lid is topped by a peacock resting on foliage. Several tughra hallmarks from the reign of Sultan Abdulmecid (1839–1861), and sah. ‘Chechné’ test mark on the base. Ottoman Turkey, reign of Sultan Abdulmecid I (r. 1839–1861), mid-19th century.
