Description
"MEKHOLA". ALGERIAN KOHL BOTTLE with a hexagonal body finely engraved with floral stems, the shoulder flanked by three openwork handles in the shape of birds perched on branches. The bottle is sealed by a long stopper attached to the body by a small chain, the top of which is also adorned with a small bird decorated with a coral bead. Algeria, 20th century. A ‘MEKHOLA’ BOTTLE AND COVER, ALGERIA, 20TH CENTURY. HEIGHT 17.5 CM (6 7/8 IN.) NOTE A similar example is held in the collections of the Musée du Quai Branly, inventory no. 71.1964.18.36.1-2.
