CHARMING SYRIAN SECRETARY
in carved walnut inlaid with mother-of-pearl, featuring a star-and-scroll motif against a background of foliage, fleurons and calligraphic panels; with a rectangular top resting on four legs joined by a stepped shelf, and adorned with a mashrabiya frieze. The upper section opens via a drawer surmounted by two mihrab-shaped niches flanked by two shelves originally concealed by a moucharabieh door. A lovely piece.
