Description
A ritual altar
resting on a base carved in the shape of a female rider skilfully mounted on the animal. Her youthful bosom is emphasised, whilst her raised arms support the seat. Her scarified face features large, wide-open, alert eyes and an angular mouth in a Cubist style.
Wood, showing very old, localised weathering, traces of natural pigments and brown patina; the animal’s head is missing.
