Settled in western Côte d’Ivoire and Liberia, the Dan people developed ritual spoons known as wunkirmian, which are associated with major community ceremonies. These objects were entrusted to a woman renowned for her generosity and her skills as a cook, who was responsible for organising the feasts. During these events, she would process and dance with the spoon, distributing food and rice to the assembly in a gesture that was both social and symbolic.
