The dial drew inspiration from a 1929 Cartier London Tank Cintrée once owned by Fred Astaire, notably featuring radium Arabic numerals. As with all CPCP creations, particular attention was paid to mechanical quality, continuing the historic collaboration between Cartier and Jaeger-LeCoultre. These 2004 models were powered by the manual-winding Jaeger-LeCoultre calibre 849 and retained the elegant proportions of the original large Cintrée references, with a curved 46mm case length and 23mm width. In subsequent years, Cartier revisited the Cintrée design in different interpretations. A 2017 skeletonised version highlighted the curved chemin-de-fer as a structural element supporting the movement, while later limited editions in 2018 reintroduced traditional dials in precious metals, combining Roman numerals at 12 and 6 with minimalist baton markers and a prominent cabochon crown, subtly referencing the earliest designs. Across these iterations, the Cintrée has remained one of Cartier's most distinctive and enduring case designs, continually reinterpreted while preserving its original elegance.
