Inspired by the tonneau-shaped jump hour wristwatches of the late 1920s, it marked the Stern family's first modern interpretation of the jump hour complication since acquiring the company in 1932. Powered by the manual-winding calibre 215 HG, the reference combines a highly traditional aesthetic with a playful and unusual display, reflecting Patek Philippe's ability to blend heritage with technical refinement. Production remained extremely limited, with only 450 examples manufactured in pink gold and 50 in platinum. Long appreciated by knowledgeable collectors for its discreet originality and historical significance, the reference 3969 occupies a unique place within Patek Philippe's modern production, offering an elegant alternative to the manufacture's more conventional complications.
