Armin Strom, born in 1938 in Lotzwil in the Canton of Bern, trained as a watchmaker and gained his first professional experience both in his hometown and in St. Moritz.
He initially focused on restoring antique clocks and pocket watches. In 1967, he opened his own specialized workshop in the historic town of Burgdorf, northwest of Bern, Switzerland, where he began designing and crafting his own timepieces.
Several years later, in 1981, he unveiled his first major masterpiece: a gold pocket watch featuring a calendar and moon phase display, distinguished by an exquisite blue lapis lazuli dial.
The exceptional quality of his work reflects years of dedication, training, and refinement of his skills in various watchmaking schools and workshops across Bern, Zurich, Geneva, and even Glashütte, known as the heart of German watchmaking.
During this period, Armin Strom devoted increasing attention to the skeletonization of vintage movements, eventually choosing to specialize in this intricate and captivating craft.
His remarkable achievements in this field quickly gained recognition, drawing the attention of both the press and collectors at the Basel Watch and Jewellery Fair in 1984.
By the late 1980s, his collection had grown to include more than 20 models. Many of these offered clients the opportunity to request bespoke decorations or customizations, personally executed by the master himself.
