RARE ‘SOU DES CHAUMIÈRES’ SUBSCRIPTION PLAQUES
Cast iron; one is quatrefoil-shaped and bears the inscription ‘Souscription Nationale du Sou des Chaumières’ in relief, whilst the other is square and bears the date ‘June 1875’ in relief.
Mounted on stapled wooden boards.

These panels bear witness to the public fundraising campaigns for the reconstruction of housing following the destruction caused by the Franco-Prussian War of 1870–71.
